We Are the Vanguard
02:15
|
|||
Don’t talk to me about the things that we’ve seen
It’s almost too much to handle
My mind is a blur from the things that we’ve heard
Like a playground for some subconscious vandal
Won’t play the hero but I’m sure that we know
Not to ever be that stupid again
I’m glad we’re all okay and we’ll think back to this day
Once every now and then
We are the vanguard
We are the vanguard
I’m glad I could help you guys out for a change
It was a well-fought fight
I’m sorry that you lost your greatest friend
And I hope things turn out all right
Still I can’t help but wonder how we made it through this
When the battle was an uphill climb
I feel so awful, so confused, and so sick
But that’s the price of the sublime
We are the vanguard
We are the vanguard
[Musical Interlude]
We are the vanguard
We are the vanguard
We are the vanguard
We are the vanguard

Omniscience
02:51
|

I guess I never thought that we would make it this far
With every new boy you were raising the bar
But you’re still here
And looking back for several years
I’ve had my fun, I’ve shed my tears
To me you’re still dear
We’re running through life headlong and blind
We’ve closed our eyes without opening our minds
The subject at hand doesn’t make any sense
Omniscience
Omniscience
Young and restrained by my insecurity
I wish that I could see the world with your clarity
I’m waiting here for you
Chains and padlocks can’t hold me back
Before the light but after the fact
I still think I’d die for you
Would you adopt my life as your own?
Prepared for things neither given nor shown
Nary a word or a gaze ever since
Omniscience
Omniscience
Let's go!
[Musical Interlude]
One, two, three, four!
We’re running through life headlong and blind
We’ve closed our eyes without opening our minds
The subject at hand doesn’t make any sense
We’re running through life headlong and blind
We’ve closed our eyes without opening our minds
The subject at hand doesn’t make any sense
Yeah, omniscience (omniscience)
Omniscience (omniscience)
Omniscience (omniscience)
Omniscience (omniscience)
Ah

Road Trip!!
05:06
|
|||
Patchin' out at 90 on the freeway stretch
I with my songs and you with your sketch
Honestly, we're sick of all of our lives' shit
So we're heading off to Canada on a super-kickass trip
Things at home, I'd say, just got a bit too rough
I think it's safe to say that we both have had enough
You can't win life with the hand you've been dealt
Pull the goggles down and fasten your seat belt
We're on a road trip
To get away from home
Woah-oh
It's our time to roam
This is our road trip!
Checkin' out for a spell
All right
Let's take a break from hell
Hey, see that frozen wasteland far off yonder?
Well, that's the place we've decided to wander.
Where the people are always a bit too nice
And the only type of floor that they've got is ice
I heard they have some very, very varied wildlife
Pink and purple dinosaurs and unicorns are rife
For several days we'll get away from friends and family
You never know, it's time to go, it'll be just you and me
We're on a road trip
To see a different point of view
Woah-oh
But it's all a whitish hue
This is our road trip!
Driving up north so free
All right, now
We're done with sea to shining sea
Let's go!
[Instrumental Break]
Onward to Ontario! Then into Quebec!
Rest in Nova Scotia and continue with our trek!
To Newfoundland, and just as planned, we'll sail for Nunavut!
We've come so far; we can't look back; the point's already moot.
We'll hit up Manitoba then go on Saskatchewan
I mean, we've already picked up French before the denouement
We'll rock out in Alberta, and then since we're almost done
We'll spend a night in ol' BC and move on to the Yukon!
Head west to Alaska, back to those United States
How was that? Hey, no regrets, and now you know… we're soul mates.
We're still on our road trip
Headin' back on home
Woah-oh
To where the buffalo would roam
This is our road trip!
And I already miss that place
The ever-shining Canada
And your ever-smiling face
But we're headed back to Texas
Oh, say it isn't so!
Not looking forward to English class
And grass that must be mown
But when time stops a moment
Every once in a long while
I'll look back on our splendid trip
And crack a little smile

People running through life without moving their feet
The rest trip and fall, they’re caught up in the street
And no one ever stops to wonder why
When there’s not a clear path or a sound way to go
It all goes to show just how little we know
We never realize life’s passing us by
You can’t act like our world is perfectly fine
Doing nothing to help disallows you to whine
But we never realize until it’s too late
Our lives are at hand just to scour our slate
Like the seas that extend for miles beyond
We proceed until we no longer respond
While holding on to whatever we can
Our dying day mirrors when it all began
Like the clouds that keep rolling above your own head
Sooner or later we’ll all end up dead
And there’s only one life we’re entitled to live
So we might as well take what this world tries to give
Coming undone in the wake of corruption
To be remembered you must instigate a disruption
But nothing can be done to justify
How many people could achieve their success
Foregoing opportunities to transgress?
What can be done to pacify?
Deception and lies around us enclose
In traps and in ties set right under our nose
Breaking the chains of our own life’s routine
Becoming a human and not a machine
Like the forests which house our most potent fears
Cuing the chorus while counting the years
You may've heard it said the whole world’s a stage
Success in such things does not much to assuage
Like the cliffs that look over the endless blue sea
We’re the dots in the middle of cosmic debris
Our lives may seem bleak, but that’s just the thing
Life isn't life without a song to sing
Celebrate mortality
Disregard reality
Abnormality marks our fate
Each eventuality
As a formality
Our vitality will abate

Lemuria
09:37
|
|||
Escaping from our world of disrepair
Where a dense fog permeates the air
Far removed from the human mind
It anyone’s guess as to what I’ll find
Within this marshland on which I trod
Which nature seems to have run roughshod
A silhouette floating in the void
Savior of the long destroyed
Lemuria, Lemuria!
He casts an eye over his domain
Surveying me, trespasser forging blains
Through the trees light rains in slats
Out bursts a striking jungle cat
Caught by surprise in the midst of my walk
The giant ocelot only adds to the shock
Fearful of the harm I’d wreaked
I couldn’t move or even speak
Lemuria, Lemuria!
He circled ‘round me as if to enfold
And with a low-pitched growl my blood ran cold
He pressed his nose up against my shirt
While I counted the moments ‘til I’d lie inert
All of a sudden he chose to back off
And retorted with a little sort of cough
I glanced up to watch my fate unfold
When he suddenly growled, “Sorry, I’ve a cold.
“My name’s
Lemuria, Lemuria!”
I was stunned speechless as there I sat
Waiting for the next move from the massive cat
I closed my eyes and well, it started to rain
My mind was muddled in a horrid migraine
The colossal cat trotted over right beside me
And said, “Come on, let’s get away from the lightning,”
The next thing I knew, he’d grabbed me in his jaws
Threw me on his back and ran off without pause
Lemuria, Lemuria!
I held on tight, still fearing for my life
I’m tired of these needless hazards oh so rife
My heart was pounding as fast as it could be
Why’s this always gotta happen to me?
When out of the blue, Lemuria halted
Down his fur I climbed and off I vaulted
“Down here”, he mutters, “Get out of the deluge,”
I was desperate for anything resembling refuge
Lemuria, Lemuria!
He led me to a hidden antre
Safe from the wind and the rain’s even banter
After a while, I nodded off
About that time Lemuria took off
When I woke up, he had returned
And catnapped too, as I discerned
I noticed the rain outside had ceased
It was nice out of doors at the very least
Lemuria, Lemuria!
Since the downpour chose to subside
I stood right up and ran outside
Viridian light played off the leaves
And the sun was streaming down from the eaves
I looked back in at my newest friend
And to help me sleep, I leaned up against him
Nestled in his fur, and without a peep
Lemuria twitched and smiled in his sleep
[Guitar Solo]
Lemuria, Lemuria!
Lemuria, Lemuria!
